I, as a kid, leant towards crafting and stitching fabric. I was curious to understand the drape and hold of a fabric to contour my body. Under the guidance of my expert Mom, I learnt the skills of cutting and sewing my own garments, at the age of 12! As a teenager, the influence of Bollywood Queens, Zeenat Aman, Parveen Babi, Neetu Singh,as well as my Hollywood idols,Sophia Loren and Audrey Hepburn, led me to understand the tone of fashion. I indulged in creating skirts, blouses, dresses, jumpsuits, and flared trousers from that influence. Non availability of readymade garments, pushed me to bring out the best in my creative energies and flaunt my ensembles proudly in school. (I am referring to a time where there were no Fashion Schools, smartphones, access to cameras or even a TV at home!)
As destiny brought me to the United Kingdom at the age of 19 years, after marriage and with no job prospects, I turned to my creative energies and to my self-taught craft, which eventually led me onto the path of the “Khubsoorat” (Beautiful) journey, pursued deligently.
As an ode to that very beginning in my fashion journey in London, I decided to create the LDN capsule collection, and see it through a lens. You’ll find London Icons across the fabrics and accessories and thanks to the collaboration with two acclaimed artists, Sba Shaikh and Jitender Sandhu, I could deliberate it on silhoutte.
Sba worked with me from sketches to print with her beautiful interpretation of my concept in order to bring my story to life. This collection is now complete and available to you all!
No ensemble today is complete without the right coordinating footwear, handbags and belts, so I had to turn to the expert in accessories, Jitender, for his guidance and creativity. After two years in the making, I can finally reveal my LDN collection to you all…
